Abstract Submission Guidelines


Deadline for Abstract Submission: 01 August 2023 at 23:59 (MYT/SGT)

Abstract submissions are welcome for the following categories for presentation at the 44th Malaysian Paediatric Association Annual Congress 2023 which to be held in Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Malaysia:


  • Oral Presentation
  • Poster Presentation
  • Young investigator award (oral presentation only)
  • When submitting, presenters may indicate their preferred mode of presentation; either oral or poster.
  • As the slots for oral presentation are limited, not all submissions for oral presentation will automatically be accepted. Selection will be done by a panel of experts based strictly on scientific merits of the abstract.
  • Abstracts not selected for oral presentations will be automatically transferred as poster presentation. 


  1. Preparation of a poster is not required for abstracts accepted for oral presentation.
  2. Abstracts are subjected to the approval by the Scientific Committee.
  3. Authors will receive the email notification of abstract acceptance/rejection via email by 22 August 2023 onwards.
  4. The presenting authors must register for the congress before the deadline by 30 September 2023.


Before submitting, please ensure the following guidelines are adhered to :

  1. Language: All abstracts should be written in English.
  2. Each author is permitted to present more than one abstract (not including invited lectures).
  3. Deadline for submission: Abstracts must be submitted through online system before 01 August 2023 at 23:59 (MYT/SGT) .Late submissions will not be accepted. Abstracts submitted by post, fax or email will not be considered.
  4. The title should be brief but adequate to clearly identify the nature of the abstract. Please include the authors’ name, and the name of the institution where the work was undertaken. The body of the abstract should be no more than 350 words.
  5. Please adhere to the following format:  
    • Authors/affiliations
    • Background and aim
    • Methods
    • Results
    • Conclusions
    • References
    • All headings must be in UPPERCASE 


  1. At the time of presentation, the presenter must be below 40 years of age.
  2. The first author listed must be the presenter.
  3. The first author must have contributed significantly to the conception, design, data acquisition and interpretation of the study.
  4. Original research from any country are all welcome.
  5. Abstracts from countries outside Malaysia must be related to paediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition. Abstracts from Malaysia may include general paediatrics.
